Strange Comfort: Hope Found In 2 Corinthians

We look for hope and comfort in a number of different places only to be left feeling empty and unsatisfied. But what if we found comfort in an unlikely place? What if our hope was found not in our daily circumstances or achievements, but in the good news of the Gospel? Join us as we walk through Paul’s second letter to the Corinthian church.

Who We Are

  • We are faithful to the Scriptures as the true, powerful, and perfect Word of God. It has the power to change and renew us. Only the Scriptures carry the message of salvation and redemption, and so trust them completely.

  • We are engaged together as a church and with the community. The Apostle Paul calls us to participate with one another in our daily lives as we strive to follow Jesus and live out the Gospel with one another and the community.

  • We are present in the midst of High Point. We long to minister to the hurting and lost, as well as believers who need to be reminded of the promises of God presented throughout His Word. Immanuel longs to be a partner in helping High Point flourish. We believe the Lord has called us to this place to serve it, just as the prophet Jeremiah told God’s people to build their houses and seek the welfare of the city they were in.

Jacob and Lizzy have been engaged in ministry from the time they met as RUF interns in 2009. Lizzy grew up in Clemson, SC and attended Clemson, graduating in 2009 with a degree in Communications. She served on staff with RUF at both UNC-Chapel Hill and Winthrop University. Lizzy continues her ministry by making their home a place of rest and welcome, while also engaging women in the church and community.

Jacob and Lizzy have three children, Norah (Age 7) , Grady (Age 4), and baby Molly.

They were given a full recommendation to plant in May 2021 by the PCA’s Mission to North America Church Planting Assessment and called by Piedmont Triad Presbytery to plant Immanuel Presbyterian Church in High Point.
